Our Story

The Greenhouse began in 2006 when Alfonso Araujo and Ben Wills came to a crossroads whilst working in the music industry. Facing a shift away from traditional format media towards digital, they and their fellow creatives found a need for affordable, flexible and collaborative spaces.

They set up a creative community in Tottenham in a disused building, transforming a neglected space into multiple live/work units. This opened their eyes to a real opportunity to provide not just space, but the right kind of space for the individual needs of those people within their community.

They continued to find new locations in undeveloped areas, always building with purpose, learning from mistakes and gradually grew to the point where they had multiple sites with thriving communities.

After the financial crisis, many businesses closed and the landscape of office rental was radically changing. There was an increased demand for affordable workspaces and a shift towards co-working, and the opportunity came in 2011 from Chris Lazarides, who had an empty building with no tenants, to join forces and expand their horizons.

Taking a leap of faith and upholding their vision to provide affordable, flexible spaces that fuel creativity, their combined expertise made the perfect mix of business acumen and grass roots entrepreneurship.

The business model evolved to include co-working, alongside private workspaces, in bright open buildings that are designed to reflect the characteristics of the members inside.

Today The Greenhouse has matured into a multifaceted, collaborative, open environment where like-minded entrepreneurs find space to grow.
